Dear Members,
At the outset, I extend my heartfelt thanks for being elected as the Chairman and having the opportunity to serve the Malaysia Chapter of ICAI for the year 2023-24. I have been fortunate to be associated with this prestigious chapter since its inception in 2018 and take part in the growth story of this niche organization consisting of members who are Indian Chartered Accountants serving across various verticals of the financial landscape in Malaysia.
As I take up this responsibility, I would like to thank the founding chairman CA Prabhat Kumar, my immediate predecessor CA Sandeep Agarwal and mentors for laying a strong foundation and guiding my peer committee members. The committee members have always been a perfect blend of senior members with abundant professional and management experience and young and budding CAs with a very positive attitude and deep commitment to learn and serve.
Over the past few years, the chapter has conducted several Professional Events for enhancing members’ knowledge and actively taken part in donation drives to discharge its social responsibility. We have also had enthralling “Family Day” and “Sports” events to stay connected with our members and their families. Today, the chapter proudly boasts the strength of its member base of around 150+ members. The recognition it has achieved with peer professional bodies such as MIA, MICPA, CAANZ, CPA Australia etc. and business organisations such as AIBC, MIBC, CIIM etc. through its programs and market events is commendable.
The chapter has also built a strong working relationship with the High Commission of India in Malaysia. I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to HE Shri BN Reddy, the High Commissioner and his team for their active involvement and guidance.
I would also like to express sincere gratitude to our sponsors and collaborators whose generous support has been instrumental in the success of our chapter. Their commitment to our shared vision has allowed us to create impactful initiatives and events that benefit our members and contribute to the growth of the accounting profession in Malaysia.
I take this opportunity to welcome our new committee members CA Aakansha Bhalotia, CA Pooja Gupta and CA Satish Kumar Verma to the chapter and thank the outgoing committee members CA Devang Merchant, CA Kunal Tayal and CA Aditya Khurana for their invaluable time and commitment.
There is also an unwavering support from the ICAI, India (HO) for creating a footprint of ICAI in Malaysia and establishing a strong network. This can be witnessed by ICAI’s participation at a mega level in MIA’s Annual Conference 2023 and hosting an ICAI Connect event on the sidelines for strengthening the network of professionals, businesses, professional bodies, and educational institutions in Malaysia.
This year marks a special place in the history of the institute as we enter the 75th year of the establishment. Strengthening the Profession, Empowering the Nation - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has been an integral part of the Indian financial landscape since its inception in1949. As ICAI celebrates its 75th year of existence under the banner "75 Years of Trust.. | ७५ साल विश्वास के.." it is an opportunity to reflect on its achievements, acknowledge the contributions of its members and reaffirm its commitment towards the profession and society. To commemorate this significant milestone, ICAI India has meticulously planned a series of activities that will unfold over the course of the next two years focusing on Social, Environmental, Sustainability Initiatives, Financial Literacy Drives, Blood Donation Camps etc for all Members, Students and Stakeholders of ICAI. The chapter will work to reinforce the commitments of the Institute to benefit its members in Malaysia.
As we embark on this journey together, I am filled with excitement about the incredible opportunities and growth that lie ahead for our esteemed chapter. I seek your support and active participation in our events, seminars, and initiatives, as your insights and experiences are invaluable to the growth and success of our chapter.
Thank you for your trust and support. Let us make this year remarkable in our professional journey.
CA Yeshwanth Kumar K
Chairman
